Advanced Hook Coating Technology
All of our special hook coatings are designed to extend the life and performance of our hooks. BKK's extensive experience and commitment to producing a quality product means that we've developed some of the best hook treatments available - leaving you with the confidence that BKK hooks will stand up to whatever you throw at them.
SS - Superslide
This Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating enhances the penetration ability of the hook by providing a lower coefficient of friction. In simple terms, it helps to penetrate a fishes mouth with less force from a bite. The PTFE coating offers acceptable corrosion resistance, but not to the same level as BKK Ultra-Antirust or Bright-Tin coatings.
UA - Ultra-Antirust
In 2014, BKK launched its new anti-rust coating technology. Ultra-Antirust’s improved hardness and very high salt corrosion resistance are at the pinnacle of current coating technology. (Note: Keep hooks with Ultra-Antirust coating away from items made of lead).
MT - Matte Tin
A matte pure tin layer. Because of the matte surface, this coating can reduce the chances of spooking fish. This coating provides high corrosion resistance and is suitable for saltwater use.
BT - Bright Tin
The undefined, shiny, and smooth pure tin layer has an elegant appearance and high salt corrosion resistance. Light reflecting off this coating can sometimes excite fish to bite. Bright tin is suitable for saltwater hooks.
N - Nickel
With a shiny and silvery white metal gloss, the high hardness performance increases the abrasion resistance of the hook point. However, these hooks are not as resistant to salt corrosion, so is more suited for use on fresh water hooks.
BN - BLACK NICKEL
With black metal gloss, the high hardness performance increases the abrasion resistance of the hook point. The black colour of the coating helps to camouflage the hooks underwater, and the salt resistance is slightly better than just Nickel. It is suitable for saltwater single hooks and freshwater treble hooks.
GLOW
BKK’s glow coating adds a luminous layer to the hook, which can help to encourage fish to bite. This layer also provides additional salt corrosion resistance.
